Answers to frequently asked Questions you may have for your wedding photographer as a bride in Canmore, Banff, Lake Louise, Moraine or Emerald Lake.
Do you live in the Bow Valley? Yes. I live in Canmore with my amazing two little children.
Is wedding photography your full time job? Yes
Will you be the one who takes our wedding pictures? Yes
Do you use a second shooter? I will have an assistant with me who will do some second shooting, however, ultimately I am responsible for the mass of the high quality images you will receive.
How many weddings do you shoot per year? I shoot no more than 22 weddings per year and no more than one wedding per week
What happens if it rains or blizzards on our wedding day? I am crafty and will shoot regardless of the weather; if you guys are keen, we go outside! If you are not keen to endure the elements, we will go to indoor backup locations with patios that we can escape onto to hopefully capture the mountains in photos. Umbrellas are always a great thing to have for your wedding day. Choose ones that you think would look pretty in your photos. I have some as well, but you may prefer to choose your own. They are great to block hot sun in mid-summer, protect your hair on windy days, and can stop the rain from ruining your hair.
Will we receive our wedding images on a cd or jump-drive? No, instead you will be given access to a password protected gallery where all of your high resolution images can be downloaded from. They will be safely stored there for up to 6 months.
Do you edit all the images yourself or outsource? I take great pride in culling and editing all images myself photo by photo so that I know exactly what quality finished product is being delivered to you.
Should I wear mountain worthy shoes at our bridal portrait session? YES. It is so important in all seasons for the wedding party to have mountain worthy footwear, such as flat shoes with rubber bottoms to address varied terrain and weather conditions. In winter, men’s dress shoes can be treacherous in the snow, so men are also required to have sneakers and or boots. It is quite likely that anywhere we go off the resorts will be covered in snow. Remember, you can always slip into your dress shoes once on location!
How long does it take for us to receive our images after the wedding? You will have access to your images within 12 weeks following the wedding.
How long have you been a photographer? As far back as I can remember I have loved photography. I got my first camera from my wonderful grandfather. At that point, I started a year book club in my junior high school year and my passion took off from there. Since then, I have acquired a diploma in Commercial Photography, a Photojournalism Major, as well as ongoing Graduate Studies in Communications.
Words of advice from me to you: On your wedding day be present, grateful, happy, tranquil, giddy, funny, thankful, and continuously look into each other’s eyes. Tell each other how excited you are for your wedding union and how beautiful each other look. This is a time to express your emotions; laugh with each other and cry with each other. The best pictures for me come when the couple is mindful and connected to each other. I can put you in poses, but only you both can convey sincere happiness.
